Oscars Provide Historic Winners

Though 2019 is no time for celebrating 'first', this year's Academy Awards made history. Sending love and endless praise to winners: Hannah Beachler (production design, Black Panther. first black person to ever be nominated in this category), Domee She and Becky Neiman Cobb (animated short, Bao. first pair of women to win an Academy Award for best animated short. Bao is Pixar’s first short directed by a woman), Ruth Carter (best costume design, Black Panther. first Black woman to ever win this award)

Amy Poehler to Direct Moxie Riot Grrrl Netflix Film

Just when we thought we couldn’t love her any more than we already do, Amy Poehler signed on to direct the film Moxie, based on the Jennifer Mathieu novel of the same name. The film centers around a teenage girl who is inspired by the 90s Riot Grrrl movement to start a feminist revolution at her high school. The movie is slated to be released on Netflix, and, seriously, it can’t come quick enough. Read more here.
