Remembering Agnes Varda

RIP Agnes Varda, the legendary filmmaker credited with sparking the French New Wave cinema movement in the 1960s has died at 90. Varda bent fiction and non fiction and the societal restraints of gender to create works that ignited a curiosity in filmmakers of all ages. Her distinctly feminist work served as a light for all of us. She the first female director to be awarded an honorary Oscar in 2017, and became the oldest ever nominee for a competitive Oscar in 2018. Thank you Agnes, for everything. Read more here.

Rita Moreno Becomes First Latina PEGOT

As if Rita Moreno did not need another incredible accomplishment to add to her trailblazing career- a new title has arrived. Rita Moreno is now a Peabody Winner honored for her lifetime achievements. She’s the 3rd person to ever receive full PEGOT honors and the 2nd person ever to win a Peabody for lifetime achievement. She’s the first Latina to reach PEGOT status.
