Georgia Signs Heartbeat Bill
This week Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill into law that severely restricts reproductive rights in the state. In the lead up to the signing of the bill, there were rumblings of a boycott since so many TV shows and movies shoot in Georgia. Grants for Muslim Female Filmmakers, Yay!
MuslimGirl.com is celebrating its 10 year anniversary by giving grants to up and coming Muslim women filmmakers through its Muslim Girl Foundation. Writer Sandra Song traces the stereotype of the quirky Asian BFF pulling from references as disparate as Gilmore Girls, Ocean’s Eight, and Friends From College. The new Netflix show “Chambers” is breaking barriers by casting Native American Sivan Alyra Rose as its lead, making her the first Native woman to star in a TV series.
